GERS is one of the world's largest vendors of
ERP system to the retail furniture market. Their systems are used
to run every aspect of a furniture store, from order entry to inventory
to delivery, billing and accounts payable. A large part of their
market is in smaller stores that are converting from manual or
less sophisticated systems. New users need to learn a complex system
that will completely change the way they do business - and avoid
going under during the learning curve.
User Training
recognizing that the transition to fully computerized
operation was going to be difficult for some GERS customers, we
based the new program on a model of how a typical customer currently
ran their business. Using toy trucks and blocks for delivery and
inventory, and other tactile and experiential techniques for other
aspects of their business, we were able to tie the new system to
the familiar - taking new users from known to unknown, and simple
to complex.
Support and retraining costs were dramatically
reduced.
